Cattle Muster was inspired by travelling through the northwest of Australia. I loved watching the floppy-eared, sweet-faced Brahman cattle and suddenly I had the idea for a story about a boy who wants to join the annual muster …
Working with Frané Lessac to bring the story to life has been joyful. Frané’s vibrant illustrations perfectly capture the colours of the northwest, a place she also knows and loves. We shared photos of roadtrains, landscapes and travel experiences. Since publication, we’ve crafted workshops and talks for all ages. Presenting sessions together is fun.
